A month ago, on May 2nd, the Supreme Court of the United States (further referred to as SCOTUS) leaked a draft opinion on the status of the crucial abortion case of Roe Vs. Wade. For a bit of background Roe Vs. Wade was the landmark case that made abortion legal in the United States. Recently, however, many states like Texas ad Missouri have passed extreme abortion bans. These bans directly challenge Roe vs. Wade. The leaked Supreme Court opinion stated that in a 5 to 4 decision (5 for overturning 4 against) that if brought to court, the judges would move to overturn Roe vs. Wade, once again criminalizing abortion.

Women in Ukraine: Fighting Back
For the past couple of weeks, we have been hearing about the devastation of Putin's war in Ukraine. I recently watched a video on Tik Tok made by a man who said, "All men have to stay in the Ukraine and fight, while women are doing nothing. Where are feminists saying that this is unfair?" This video upset me for many reasons. One is that we should not be blaming man-made wars and man-issued laws on women. The second is that one should not exploit the suffering of an entire nation to spread misogynist misinformation. Lastly, women in Ukraine are doing something! They peacefully advocate, use diplomacy, take care of their children, volunteer at borders, and even stay behind to fight. In tandem with International Women's day, I thought I would highlight how women in Ukraine are fighting back. "Women and marginalized peoples have not only been victims but leaders in crisis response, acting as frontline healthcare workers, unpaid caregivers, and community mobilizers" (Global Fund For Women)

Latinx Inspired Fashion
Ciao! Or I should I say hola! Happy Latinx Heritage Month! Although I celebrate my culture all year round, this month I am extra about it. Living in Miami I have definitely been able to celebrate my Latina culture and practice my Spanish. When I volunteered in Puerto Rico I was also very inspired my the architecture of old san Juan, the vibrant colors and the fashion. I bought some clothing there, as well as Spanish inspired accessories in Miami from independent businesses, that I have been able to combine with my own wardrobe. I decided to create a post celebrating my culture with Spanish and Puerto Rican inspired looks.
